Vini Lazzeretti

Among the barrels and beyond

A visit to our winery offers an inside look at the true meaning behind producing Brunello di Montalcino. The experience does not start among the barrels, but among the vines, where Marco spends his days with his hands in the earth, and his gaze raised to the heavens.

Everything begins in the vineyard. Marco personally oversees every stage of the vine’s life cycle, from winter pruning, performed with patience and precision to nurture the plant towards its full potential, through to the canopy management in spring, when every shoot already speaks to the quality of the wine to come.

In summer, he walks the rows every week, observing the ripening of the grapes, and judging just the right moment for the harvest, a decision never dictated by a calendar, but always and only by the vines themselves. The harvest is carried out entirely by hand, selecting only that which is worthy of becoming Brunello.

In the cellar, the same rigour applies. Marco guides the winemaking, from destemming through to fermentation, keeping a keen eye on temperatures, timings, and every nuance the fermenting must reveals. No decision is delegated or left to chance. He is the one who watches over the wine in its early stages, to understand when it is ready for the next step.

Ageing is another chapter. Brunello di Montalcino demands time, matures unhurriedly, and calls for a little help only when needed. The scents that fill the cellar, of wood, earth, and ripe fruit, tell the story of years of silent care.

The journey from vine to bottle is far more than a metaphor, it is a daily reality, lived with authentic passion. Every glass you taste carries with it work, constant presence, and an unwavering commitment to never compromise on quality.
